I MADE IT! I'm here in Murfreesboro for the Orpheus Competition! I'm super excited to have been selected, and I have to tell you after my first night, even though I'm nervous, I am relishing in the fact that I get to spend the next 3 days JUST being a singer!
So many of us have day jobs that take a lot of our time and energy. I am very fortunate that I have a day job that has worked with me for every audition, performance, and (now!) competition. Even so, for people whose career is not their day job, there's always going to be the exhaustion and frustration of finding balance.
I've always been a "means to an end" sort of person, so I've been everything from a barista to a tutor to a front desk admin to make money to afford auditions and trips like this one. I'm grateful for the opportunities I've been able to take, but I also know the hard work I've put in at both my job and for my career, so excuse while I take a moment to sit in my Airbnb before the nerves kick in to sit contentedly and be a singer. :) Wish me luck!
